Animal Farm on Stage
27. 10. 2026On Monday, 19 October, we had the opportunity to watch a theatre adaptation of Animal Farm, George Orwell’s famous novel. The performance started at 9.00 am at Španski Borci Theatre in Ljubljana and gave us a chance to experience a well-known literary work outside the classroom.
The play tells the story of a group of farm animals who rebel against their human owner, hoping to create a society where all animals are equal. However, as the pigs gradually gain power, we see how their original ideas begin to change and how the other animals suffer as a result. Through this story, Orwell explores important themes such as corruption, propaganda, inequality and the abuse of power.
Watching the story unfold on stage allowed us to see the characters and events in a different way. The performance brought the novel’s main ideas to life and helped us think more deeply about its message. It also showed us how literature can reflect real-life problems and human behaviour.
Overall, the visit was an enjoyable cultural experience and a great way to connect what we learn in class with live theatre. It reminded us that, even though Animal Farmwas written many years ago, its message is still very much relevant today.
