Welcome Back to a New School Year at VIA

Welcome Back to a New School Year at VIA

The 2025–26 school year is officially underway at Vector International Academy. For the seventh time, students and staff gathered on the first morning to begin a new academic journey together. As always, there was a sense of both familiarity and excitement: familiar classrooms and routines, but also the new faces, new energy, and new opportunities that make each year unique.

New Members of Our Community

This year, VIA is proud to welcome 26 new students from a variety of countries and backgrounds. They bring with them new stories, perspectives, and ideas that will enrich our school community. We are also delighted to introduce two new teachers, one joining our History department, and the other joining as our IBDP Psychology teacher.

VIA may be small, but it is defined by its diversity. Students come from many different cultures and backgrounds, and by learning together, they gain the skills and understanding needed to thrive anywhere in the world. This commitment is central to the IB mission: creating a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

Celebrating Academic Success

Our students continue to achieve at the highest levels. Highlights from last year include:

  1. IB Diploma Programme: The graduating class achieved excellent results, including a record score of 43 points in the May 2025 exams. Graduates are now pursuing university studies around the world.

  2. IGCSE Results:

    • All Year 10 students excelled in English as a Second Language.

    • One student sat the full French exam and earned a grade 9.

    • Three students completed full Mathematics IGCSE a year early and all achieved grade 9.

    • One remarkable Year 10 student sat nine exam papers and scored in the 100th percentile in seven of them — meaning no one worldwide achieved higher marks.

These achievements set a high standard for the year ahead.

The Year Begins

The first days of term are dedicated to easing into routines, meeting teachers, and for Year 10 and Year 12 students, completing baseline assessments. Year 13 students, meanwhile, are immediately focused on their Extended Essay deadline, the first of many milestones in their final and most challenging year at VIA.

And on Wednesday, the entire school community will head to Camp Menina. This annual tradition marks the start of the year with outdoor challenges, teamwork, and plenty of shared experiences — often including getting wet.

Looking Ahead

As the year unfolds, students will face new challenges, meet deadlines, and begin shaping their futures. For Year 13 in particular, the coming months will be intense, balancing demanding coursework with university decisions. Yet every class before them has met these challenges successfully, and there is every confidence this year’s seniors will do the same.

The year ahead is full of opportunity, growth, and discovery. With high expectations, strong support, and the spirit of respect that defines VIA, the community is ready to begin.
